State Communication: How linza production Created a Series of Videos for Ukraine’s Official Account

In September 2023, the creative communication agency linza production began collaborating with Brand Ukraine. We were tasked with creating content for the Ukraine.ua account, primarily focusing on SMM video content.

Our first joint project was an animated explainer video for Black Sea Day. The audience gradually “dove” into the depths of the sea, discovering its inhabitants and historical artifacts. Simultaneously, we addressed issues of mine pollution and the ecological challenges caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam by russian occupiers. We also highlighted the sunken cruiser Moskva. On Instagram, our creative content garnered over 136,000 views.

Closer to Christmas, we produced a video about holiday traditions, along with a dynamic rewind of Ukraine’s 2023 highlights.

At the beginning of 2024, we shifted our focus to promoting Ukrainian culture and science. This led to the creation of stylish collage-animated videos about Kazimir Malevich, Tetyana Yablonska, and Ukraine’s contributions to space exploration.

“Using vibrant colors and diverse textures makes each animation dynamic and engaging. Combining old archival materials with modern graphic elements allowed us to create a ‘bridge’ between the past and the present. Each animation reveals the life and creative achievements of prominent Ukrainians. The combination of visual style and storytelling not only conveys information but also emotionally connects viewers, creating a strong bond with Ukraine’s cultural and scientific heritage,” says Roksolana Deineha, Art Director at linza production.

“The projects we implement with Brand Ukraine are crucial for showcasing the uniqueness of Ukrainian culture and history. These videos share stories of our Christmas traditions and the resilience of the Ukrainian people, distinguishing us from any attempts at appropriation by other cultures. By presenting our traditions and perseverance to the world, we emphasize how we preserve our national identity,” says Ivanka Vlasiuk, Producer at linza production.

In May, we created a video for Memorial Day in the United States, followed by one in June about the Peace Summit in Switzerland. Up next is a video about Lesya Ukrainka and even more stories to introduce the world to Ukraine and dismantle russian myths about us.

“Collaborating with Brand Ukraine is particularly valuable to me as it allows for the effective promotion of our traditions, achievements, history, and culture on the international stage. It strengthens Ukraine’s positive image and fosters support from the global community,” adds Ivanka Vlasiuk, Producer at linza production.

“Today, it’s crucial to quickly and accurately communicate the truth about Ukraine, as russia constantly fills the information space with fakes and appropriates our cultural heritage. Together with linza production, we created 10 vibrant animated explainers with voiceovers, promoting Ukrainian cultural and scientific achievements to Western audiences. We appreciated the agency’s commitment to social change and their collaborative approach. They listened to our feedback, and together we achieved the best versions of the videos,” shares Tim Makarov, Head of Digital & Content at Brand Ukraine.
